Alexander’s on Rowan Lake operates a full-service fly-in lodge and two outpost camps on Rowan Lake.

The Lodge

The only way you can get into Rowan Lake is by float plane. You will not find any crowds up here with endless miles of scenic shoreline, weed beds, islands and rock reefs to fish. Our remote wilderness location means virtually untouched fish populations and this means exceptional fishing opportunties for our guests. It’s just 25 air miles from Nestor Falls, Ontario to our beautiful Rowan Lake camp where 12 ultra-clean cabins with full linens await you.

The air-conditioned lodge also provides satellite TV, Wi-Fi Internet access, radio telephone, room for conversation and a brand new screened in porch that’s big enough to hold any group of guests. So sit back and relax. The coffeepot is always on and you can help yourself to our famous island monster coolies. Soft drinks and snacks are available too.

The finest home cooking in Canada is served in our lodge. We serve all-you-can-eat breakfasts and dinners. Noon meals are prepared by our cook to take with you of we’ll give you the fixin’s for a shore lunch so you can grill your morning catch. There a many scenic locations on the lake where you can tie up your boat and enjoy the beauty of the Rowan Lake wilderness during lunch.

And you’ll love our tasty shore lunch box that you take with you for your midday feast on our beautiful shorelines or our quick sandwich box lunch to nibble on when fishing activity allows.

Every cabin has a access to unlimited free ice and your own cold storage chest to keep your favorite beverages ice-cold during your stay. We also provide all necessary items to clean, pack and freeze your fish filets for your trip back home.

Lodge Equipment

20 h.p. Yamaha 4-stroke motors and 16-foot, wide beam Lund boats. Bow and stern mount Minnkota trolling motors, depth finders, casting platforms, and padded swivel seats are also available.

Upgrade boats are also available for an additional cost: 17.5′ G3 and Lund Outfitter boats with 50hp Yamaha 4-stroke motors, bow mount trolling motor, depth finder, one full tank of gas per day and Live well.

American Plan Lodge Cabins

Our seven ultra clean cabins have fully modern baths. A beautiful log lodge and dining room have plenty of space to relax while in camp. We also provide fish cleaning services, ice maker, freezer, tackle and more.

This is your home away from home. All cabins are done in pine with modern facilities, cozy surroundings, bed lamps, ceiling fans and most of all they are kept absolutely spotless. Our cabins sleep from two to eight people comfortably with daily maid service. The cabins have full modern bathrooms with hot showers, clean linens and delicious food are what every fisherman craves at the end of each day. Our cabins, equipped with electricity, heat and private baths, are cleaned daily by the camp staff.

Deluxe Housekeeping Plan

Alexander’s offers two deluxe housekeeping cabins (Cabins 10 4) at our convenient main lodge location. We furnish cooking utensils, water and full functional kitchen. Three piece Bath and screened in porch are included. Our deluxe cabin has plenty of room to relax with your boat docked right outside your front door.

Outpost Cabins

There are two self-contained outpost camps on Rowan Lake. One is in Sullivan Bay and the other is approximately 1.2 miles SE of the lodge.

Rowan Lake

Rowan Lake is renowned for its excellent lake trout fishing. At Alexander’s even novice anglers take their limits of these deep water fighters without the assistance of fishing guides. Rowan is about 17 miles long and 7 miles wide, it has over 60 islands, the deepest part of the lake is 180 feet. Rowan Lake is a clear water lake with endless fishing structures, cabbage filled bays with weeds growing into 20 feet of water. Rowan Lake is well known for it’s “World Class Trophy” Muskie fishing. Rowan Lake is a destination for many novice and hardcore muskie hunters alike. Rowan hold lot’s of decent sized Northern Pike and is an has great Largemouth Bass and Smallmouth Bass fishing. Rowan also has very good walleye fishing, especially in some of the shallower bays and in the nearby portage lakes.

Rowan Lake has no road access and the only way you can get into Rowan Lake is via float plane. Due to Rowan’s vast size and unlimited fishing structure, fishing pressure doesn’t exist. The only crowds up here are underwater!

Fishing on Rowan Lake

The fishing is excellent in Rowan. The lake is noted for lake trout but also offers fine northern pike, largemouth bass and smallmouth bass, walleye, and world class trophy Muskie fishing.

Fishermen and women travel from all over the world to fish Rowan Lake. Imagine fishing for trophy Walleyes, Northern Pike, Largemouth Bass, Smallmouth Bass, Lake Trout and the World Class Muskie. Rowan Lake is renown as one of the top lakes in North America to produce the next world record Muskie.

Because of our Lodge’s central Island location, our guests can easily navigate to fishing spots throughout the lake. Every new group arriving to Alexander’s on Rowan Lake will be provided a detailed map of Rowan Lake that highlights the most active fishing locations and other pertinent fishing information. Pat and Cheryl Alexander will personally go over the map and discuss the best fishing locations, shore lunch spots and options for your stay at our lodge. We will also go over all the amenities of the main Lodge, your cabin and how to operate all your boating equipment so that your fishing and stay here at Alexander’s on Rowan Lake will be comfortable and hassle free.

Full-day guiding services are available to show you around to the many “hot fishing spots” on the lake or to help you get familiar with the area so you can explore Rowan Lake out on your own. Novice fisherman will have no problem catching enough Lake Trout or Walleye for a delicious and memorable shore lunch. If you choose to use our guiding services, our guides will spend a full day out on the water with you, prepare your shore lunch, and they will clean, package and freeze any fish you wish to transport with you back home.

Rowan Lake is a large, diverse body of water. It features shallow weedy bays, rocky reefs and expansive gin clear deep water basins. The deep water basins in Brooks Bay, Sullivan Bay and Eagles Nest and their adjoining bays are a combination of all types of Canadian Shield lake structure. Rowan Lake is large comprizing 60,000 acres in size and is 17 miles long and 7 miles wide and has a maximum depth is 180 feet. With Alexander’s Lodge central lake location on Rowan Lake, you will have no problem finding fishable waters without ever seeing another boat the whole day on the water. Rowan also doesn’t have any expansive open water areas that get exposed to the wind. Even in strong windy conditions it is relatively easy to find plenty of protected calm waters to fish.

We are a kid and family friendly lodge that caters to the novice fisherman and we also provide the best in fishing for the hardcore trophy fishermen and women as well.

Portage Lakes

There are four portage lakes: Basil Lake (Northern Pike, Walleye, Bass), Hill Lake (Northern Pike, Walleye, Bass and Lake Trout), Fog Lake (Northern Pike, Walleye, Lake Trout and Bass) and Newman Lake (Northern Pike, Walleye and Bass). Basil Lake is north of the lodge, while Newman, Fog and Hill Lakes are at the Southeast end of the lake.
