Welcome to Howey Bay Resort and Outposts – Exceptional fishing and hunting in Northwestern Ontario
Plan your next wilderness vacation in Ontario’s Sunset Country – “The Great Canadian Experience!”
You can choose to stay at Howey Bay Resort, fly-in to one of our seven outposts or experience a truly unique vacation by combining both experiences. Excellent trophy fishing for walleye, northern pike, whitefish, perch and the occasional muskie starts at our docks and continues throughout Red Lake and the chain of Gullrock, Keg, Ranger and Two Island lakes.
World class moose and bear hunting experiences are offered from Howey Bay Resort or our Outposts. Our moose hunters fly-in to one of our outposts while bear hunters hunt from Howey Bay Resort.
Howey Bay Resort
Enjoy your Northwestern Ontario vacation in the relaxing environment of Howey Bay Resort. Situated on the shores of the Red Lake waterway our lodge is conveniently located adjacent to the town of Red Lake where you will find restaurants, shopping a museum and community parks. The Red Lake Area Golf and Country Club is also nearby providing a club house and 18 challenging holes in a beautiful wilderness setting.
Our facilities range from modern to slightly rustic all of which are very well taken care of and are very clean with the comforts of home. Cabins are fully house keeping and contain bedding and towels, microwaves, televisions, gas grills, air conditioning and some have such luxuries as dishwashers and hot tubs. All cabins have lake views and include convenient parking and easy access to our docking facilities.
If you have a laptop bring it along as in most instances you can access high speed wireless internet from your cabin or you can visit the office where you can use either your computer or our guest business center computer and fax machine.
Fly-in Outposts
Experience the solitude of a fly-in adventure at one of our exclusive outpost cabins. Enjoy nature in the wild where you will regularly see loons, whiskey jacks, and eagles, often see beavers and otters, and occasionally see moose or caribou. In many of our locations you will be the only guests on a ‘lake of your own’.
We work hard to provide high quality facilities and equipment and keep everything as clean and tidy as possible. All locations have hot and cold running water, showers, solar powered lights, fridge, stove with oven, chest freezer, wood stove, and well equipped kitchen with all cooking and eating utensils etc. Even though the lake water is great to drink we filter it for drinking purposes. If you wish to communicate with us or your home, satellite phones are available. Our pilots will ‘drop in’ and check on you a couple of times during your stay to bring items you may need or just to say hello.
Since all of our outposts are within 40 miles flying distance of Red Lake we can provide a high standard of maintenance of our grounds, equipment and facilities and service to our guests. If you are with us for a week we generally drop in to see you two or three times depending on weather.
When you arrive at your outpost we generally arrive shortly after to bring your extra gear etc., ( at no charge ), and go over all aspects of boat operation, safety, general operation of camp systems and answer any questions you might have. Our goal is for you to feel totally relaxed and ready to get out on the lake.
