Camp Description
Arriving at our fly-in lodge is not only quick and easy but convenient. You will not pay hundreds of dollars more and spend hours driving and flying into Ontario in order to arrive at your fishing destination. Many of our guests that live in states as far away as California and Florida are fishing with us the very day they depart from home. This is made possible since Delta Airlines services International Falls on a daily basis. From International Falls, you are only a 15-minute drive to the local flying service in Fort Frances, Ontario that will carry you the short, 25-minute flight to our lodge. We are remote, yet close. Why spend several hours extra driving into Ontario followed by a lengthy flight to arrive at your destination?

The exclusivity and exquisite amenities of our lodge allow you to relax in the at-home setting with no guests present in addition to your group. This allows you the comfort of being among the people you know and allows us the opportunity to focus on creating a successful vacation for your group alone.

With exceptional populations of walleye, lake trout, smallmouth bass, and northern pike, Otukamamoan Lake rivals the very best fishing lakes in northwestern Ontario both for quantity and quality. Bob and Brett are expert guides with unsurpassed knowledge of the lake, its structures, and fishing patterns.

During your stay at our Trout Lake Outpost the entire lodge, grounds, and equipment are exclusively yours without other clients, making the destination ideal for private executive or corporate getaways, family adventures, or a great time amongst a group of friends. Throughout the duration of your stay, we will casually work off of a schedule that fits the desires of your group regarding meals and fishing times. On your first evening, you will enjoy a prepared walleye fry with the main course of fish you caught minutes before. Whether it is fishing, swimming, relaxing by the fire or experiencing the breathtaking sunset off the front dock, your hosts Bob and Brett ensure creating a lifetime of magnificent memories for you is a top priority.

Accommodations
Relaxing in our exquisite, uniquely handcrafted lodge is the only way to unwind while experiencing the serenity of the Canadian wilderness. The exclusivity of not having other guests at the lodge ensures a private retreat for your own group while enjoying all the modern amenities of home. Internet and telephone are available for those needing to stay in touch. Located on a narrow peninsula allows for spectacular lake views on both sides of the lodge. A rear dining room overlooking the lake is where you will enjoy meals prepared for you by Bob and Brett including full breakfasts, fresh walleye fries, grilled lake trout, and steak dinners throughout your stay. Let the photos speak for themselves as you imagine feeling at home enjoying our first class accommodations.

The Fishing
We are blessed to have an extremely & healthy population of walleye, lake trout, northern, and smallmouth bass in the lake. Walleyes are generally shallower in spring/early summer moving out to deeper reefs as the summer progresses. Lake trout generally run in the 5-12 pound class with several in the teens and twenties each summer. Several methods of lake trout fishing include long lining from shore, jigging, and the use of downriggers make this fish fun to catch. Fishing for small mouth may entail top water baits, crank baits, and even fly-fishing. Fly fishing for smallmouth has become a favorite challenge for many guests in recent years at our lodge. These fast action and high flying bass are sure to give you a great fight. Trout Lake has an abundant amount of large northern most of which are caught by accident while fishing for walleye or lake trout in deeper water. However, for fast action mid-sized northern casting 6-12 foot weed beds can provide for great action as well.

At our lodge, we practice a catch and release policy in order to preserve the resource for not only our lifetime, but future generations. Conservation fishing licenses ensure that populations will not be overstressed and that exceptional fishing can be enjoyed by all year after year. Fresh, prepackaged walleye fillets can be arranged for pick up in International Falls, Minnesota upon your return for a delicious fish fry for family and friends to enjoy back home.

For those with an even greater sense of adventure, we have access to two additional lakes for an afternoon of fun. These lakes are only several miles in diameter and are reached after a very short walk on comfortable trails. In boats previously placed here by us, you can enjoy fast action catch and release walleye and northern fishing, or take your chance at landing a trophy smallmouth. It’s up to you!
