Camp Description
Loon Haunt Outposts’ Goose Lake camp is located on the Berens River, a 65 mile fly-in from Red Lake, Ontario. We fish Walleye and Northern Pike on Goose Lake and Nechigona Lake. Our camp is small (4 cabins), and we hold a maximum of 24 people. There are no other camps on Goose Lake or Nechigona Lake. Camp life is very relaxed and unstructured, we encourage guests to set their own pace. To locate us on a map, look north-east of Red Lake past Trout Lake to the Berens River and a group of 4 lakes – Upper Goose Lake, Mamakwash Lake and the 2 smaller lakes (often unlabeled on maps), are Goose Lake and Nechigona Lake.

We built the camp from scratch starting in 1978. As you will see by our conservation policy, we are very protective of our fantastic fishing resource. Our aim is for everyone to catch hundreds of fish and a big one. We realized many years ago that the only way we could reach our goal was to protect our breeding stock and minimize the pressure on the resource. We believe our policy of not killing any large fish, only consuming small fish for fish dinners and offering only a NO take home fish package, maximizes your chances to catch and photograph a big one and at the same time catch and release hundreds of fish during your stay.

Everyone loves the modified Loon Haunt boats at Goose Lake. They feature 9.9 hp Honda 4 stroke motors with electric start, 12 volt outlets for fish locators, comfortable swivel seats and our new walk through seats. Once you have tried them you will want to know why all boats aren’t this way.

All outposts are equipped with boats, motors and unlimited gasoline. All cabins feature: hot and cold running water and showers, propane stove, refrigerator, chest-type freezer, pots and pans, dishes, cutlery and utensils, beds with coil spring mattresses, pillows and solar electric lights. We supply, potable water, ice and emergency communication radios at no charge. If you are prepared to meet our flying schedule, which will enable us to utilize the aircraft both ways, flying is included in the rates quoted.

Portage Lakes
There are boats on Nechigona Lake for additional fishing opportunities.
