Our outpost, which is the only cabin on Whitelaw Lake, is located in a small bay close to the inlet for the lake. Whitelaw Lake runs a little deeper than our other Walleye/Northern lakes and has some 55 foot depths. Whitelaw is a mesotrophic (middle age) lake and thus the dark stained water makes for an incredible Walleye population and great fishing any time of day. The angler doesn’t have to venture very far to catch fish. One of the favorite places to find fish is in the bay directly in front of the cabin at the base of the rapids. A short portage takes the fisherman to another lake to explore.
We built the cabin at a new site on Whitelaw Lake in 1998 to replace our existing cabin. This lovely cabin will accommodate 6 and is of log construction. It boasts 2 bedrooms, a large dining area and well equipped kitchen with plenty of counter room and cupboards for ample storage. Propane appliances include a stove, refrigerator and chest type freezer. Lights are solar powered electric. A gas barbecue is conveniently located outside on the attached deck. The cabin also has a bathroom with hot and cold running water and a shower with basin. An outdoor privy is located behind the cabin.
The Whitelaw Lake cabin features both a refrigerator with a freezer above and a chest type deep freeze. The secret to having cold beer is to place the beer in the chest freezer to get it good and cold and then put it in the refrigerator. The freezer above the refrigerator provides plenty of room for frozen foods. We keep a good supply of ice in the chest freezer to act as a heat sink so the freezer doesn’t get behind trying to cool the beer. Take the beer to the ice. Don’t take the ice to the beer and you will have plenty of ice cold beer.
All outposts are equipped with boats, motors and unlimited gasoline. All cabins feature: hot and cold running water and showers, propane stove, refrigerator, chest-type freezer, pots and pans, dishes, cutlery and utensils, beds with coil spring mattresses, pillows and solar electric lights. We supply, potable water, ice and emergency communication radios at no charge. If you are prepared to meet our flying schedule, which will enable us to utilize the aircraft both ways, flying is included in the rates quoted.
