Camp Description
This site is a solitary outpost at the extreme west end of Lake St. Joe at the river outlet. The cabin is a 4 bedroom cabin situated on a quiet bay. Three directions to travel are available to you here. North to the Cat River inflow, south to the Root River outlet or east towards Eagle Island [20 miles distant]. The boats here are only 14 foot alumarines as this end of the lake is more protected but you still get 15 hp motors to get you around to those distant exploration places. One of the big features here is the river outlet or the Cookie Jar, ½ mile distant, where the entire lake drains out through a narrows creating a 5 mph current and a walleye factory, pretty much any time of the year.
Portage Lakes
None.
